Is there really no equality between the sexes?

This has been given a wrong view by many in our society thereby giving people the wrong impressions. Due to these wrong impressions, a group of people known as feminists has emerged, only making women appear weaker than they seem. No matter how developed a country may seem, gender equality always lacks. A specific species must always appear dominant to the other, but this should not be the case. The species most negatively affected by this is the female species. People will always bring up facts to support that men are above women and that gender equality can never exist.

In most case scenarios, the statement "You are a girl", when mentioned is usually in a negative extent. In our present immediate society, it is usually said to express restrictions, expectations, and dictations of what is and is not to be done by a female or also as an insult. Our capabilities and potentials are never fully reached due to the pride of a man. Even though great countries are often referred to as a "she", society seems to make a constant effort to stop her from flourishing.

In previous years a lot of restrictions and expectations were placed on the female species. Females were deprived of so many essential things, it was believed that their main function was to get married. Ranging from not having an education to not having a say in matters that concern them, the female species was highly maltreated. Women battering and degradation were the main order of the day. In fact, it was seen as odd if a husband did not "discipline" his wife by inflicting physical pain on her.

Our society claims that maltreatment of women no longer exists and that women are currently seeking to be above men. Despite the technological advancements we claimed to have achieved, traces of this can still be found in our homes. Women are still seen as inferior beings who are not meant to have a voice. Women are not yet regarded a deserved. We are seen as weak and our bodies as constant objects of speculation to men for ridicule often mistaken for glorification. We are constantly told what we can or cannot do by people who tell us to find ourselves the man who will treat us like the queen that we are, our mothers. We are also given to these men against our will in exchange for flimsy bride prices. This is probably due to the messed up mentalities they were forced to have by their own mothers.

The fight for equality begins with the ones seeking this equality, the women. They should fight not only verbally but should also have the courage to prove their worth when giving a chance. Women should not allow others to dictate their lives for them. Everyone should endeavor to keep up with our world today and realize the place of a woman is not in the kitchen. Parents should make sure their daughters are married to men who will continue to cherish what they formed. We can only do this by teaching our children gender equality from a tender age. Or else we may end up destroying a masterpiece who was only trying to master peace.
